Happy Thanksgiving! We stopped by the Medina River in Bandera, Texas on our trip home Monday. The cypress tress were exploding in color and made a great contrast to the green water of the Medina. Beautiful spot to spend an afternoon in the Texas Hill Country.
I was saddened learning that my home state of Texas closed it's state parks on Tuesday for Covid-19, but understood completely in this trying time. This image is from one of my favorite state parks in the Texas Hill Country. I started going here as a child and continue to go as often as time allows as an adult. The river banks along the Frio RIver light up in the fall when the cypress turn. If your lucky enough to visit on weekdays you have the park almost to yourself to enjoy their beauty. Looking forward to visiting more of the Texas state park system once the parks are reopened to the public. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography (www.stevecoylephotography.com)
One of my favorite hills in the Texas Hill Country. I have climbed Old Baldy at Garner State Park more times than I can count for views of the valley cut by the Frio River. I have swam beneath it's shadow in the chilly Frio River on many a warm day. I never tire of seeing it and always welcome it's sight whenever I visit this special place. Sure wish I could go there today, but unfortunately I will have to settle to live that adventure through this photo today.
