Mossy Johnston
Along the Joe Johnston route in Government Canyon State Natural Area. I happened upon this about 3 miles into my hike on Sunday. Spanish moss is prevalent in wetter areas, but not something normally seen in the Texas Hill Country. I had seen some photos of this part of the trail, but wasn't sure where in the park it was. A surprising find on a hike otherwise filled with lots of cedar trees and limestone rocks. The only water I saw had a nice layer of green moss covering the water that hid dinosaur tracks beneath it's surface. It was a good hike, but not the photographic adventure I had hoped for. This was definitely the highlight of the hike for me. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography (www.stevecoylephotography.com)
