Ranch Wedding
On Saturday my wife and I drove to Goldthwaite, Texas for Liz Schendelaar and David Grell's wedding on David's family's ranch. Liz had told me months earlier that they chose his family's ranch for their venue in part because of a huge oak tree on the property that they wanted to get married under. When she described it to me I had a feeling it was going to make a really nice backdrop for their photos.
When we arrived we found they had been having rain that morning and they were wondering if they would need to move the celebration indoors to a nearby church they had selected for plan B. Luckily the rain had moved out and the wedding on the ranch was a go.
We had to deal with some mud from the rains, but we strove to keep the bride and groom out of the mud as much as possible during their first look. The couple also had a couple of 4 wheelers to cart themselves and guest around the ranch, which also made it nice for transporting my camera equipment.
We made this image in front of the tree they had their wedding in front of with a overcast sky that provided a nice backdrop with the hills in the background. We didn’t have the stellar sunset I think the bride and groom may have preferred, but I’d say we did great with the weather we had that day. I cannot imagine a much prettier scene for a beautiful bride on her wedding day.
