Chilly Sophia
Several people have asked if I take photos of people. My response is always - YES! If you'd like to have your portrait done, I'd be happy to assist you. Tomorrow I'll post a shot from a portrait shoot that I did for some friends of mine yesterday to provide you with another example of what I do, but today I'll focus on the story behind this shot. Yesterday I had the opportunity to join veteran photographer Randy Kerr and this model - Sophia - for some free lighting tricks instruction. I took the day off so I could go to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Austin. The cold front had come in and it was quite chilly, really adding to the photos with Sophia trying to stay warm in her jacket, scarf and gloves. The tricks we learned were great and I'm looking forward to incorporating them in other portraits I take. Sophia provided her time posing for us for free, but does accept donations for humanitarian aid to her home country of Ukraine. It was a pretty great way to spend the day off and fantastic that Randy and Sophia provided their time and instruction for free.
