Wild West

On our last trip to Big Bend we made the drive down river road, which I read at one time that National Geographic had classified as one of the most scenic drives in the US. For desert scenery it is hard to beat and there are several interesting stops along the way. We stopped at the old Contrabando movie set where movies like the Streets of Laredo were filmed. Most of the buildings that were here were torn down by Texas Parks and Wildlife in 2015 due to safety concerns regarding the integrity of the buildings. But this one building remains and the backdrop is second to none for an old western, especially if you are patient and wait for the right light to bring it to life. Definitely worth the stop if you ever find yourself in Big Bend and want to see more than just the national park. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography ( http://www.stevecoylephotography.com)
