Two Hearts

No wedding to photograph today, but thought I'd share this image from a same sex wedding I photographed in June. Rachel and Kelly were great to work with and this shot of their handfasting ceremony was a very important part of the wedding for Rachel. For those of you who do not know, handfasting is an old Pagan custom, dating back to the time of the ancient Celts. If you'd like to know more about handfasting, check out http://www.handfastings.org. When I read about the handfasting ceremony it really helped me appreciate the theme of their wedding even more. Instead of wedding dresses or suits, the couple wore kilts and Rachel, being of Scottish ancestry, gave her colors to Kelly as part of the ceremony. It was a very unique and special celebration, one I will not long forget. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography ( http://www.stevecoylephotography.com)
