Anyone who has ever hiked to the top of the Lost Mine Trail in Big Bend National Park knows it is a long way to the top. I visited with this lady and her husband, whose leg you can see behind her, as we were all hiking our way to the top. I thought this shot provided a good perspective of just how high we had hiked. You can see the road into the Chisos Basin on the left in the middle of the shot, basically where our hike began. Off in the distance is the Window and the desert beyond.
Along the Windows Trail in the Chisos Basin in Big Bend National Park. I made this as I hurriedly hiked along the trail to catch sunset from the Window (the notch in the middle of the mountain range in the distance). It's a couple of miles from the campground in the Chisos Basin, but well worth the hike as the Window looks out over Big Bend's desert floor several 1000 feet below.
Happy Earth Day! Doing a little dreaming of where I'll be a month from today. This was a shot of the Boquillas Canyon I captured last fall as the sun was setting behind us. Looking forward to capturing this from a different perspective next month. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography (www.stevecoylephotography.com)
