Happy Earth Day! Doing a little dreaming of where I'll be a month from today. This was a shot of the Boquillas Canyon I captured last fall as the sun was setting behind us. Looking forward to capturing this from a different perspective next month. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography (www.stevecoylephotography.com)
Using Mother Nature for my off camera flash as I captured this scene on the west side of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend. Reminds me of scenes I've seen in Texas Highways magazine. I saw the Yucca as I drove passed it and thought it would really add to the scene I wanted to capture of sunset in this great national park treasure. It's definitely worth an evening drive if you are ever in Big Bend at sunset and want to see some dramatic scenery that can only be enjoyed this way during the last hour of sunlight. This century cactus was in bloom close to the entrance to the Window trailhead in the Chisos Basin campground while we were there last week. Unfortunately it was in a position that necessitated going into a campsite to get this angle for the image I wanted to capture and there was someone in that campsite. They left before we did on our last morning in the park and the late morning sun lit the blooms on the cactus quite nicely. I'm glad I got to see this in bloom. A beautiful temporary addition to a beautiful scene. Photo by Steve Coyle Photography (www.stevecoylephotography.com)
