I always liked climbing trees as a kid. In the summertime I could hide in the limbs of the tree under the canopy of the leaves, but once winter came around my hiding place was foiled until the Spring. I took advantage of one of those leafless trees a couple of weeks ago for a view of some of the downtown condos on the north side of Lady Bird Lake. Sure was a lot more interesting than the view of the backyard I had as a kid. :-)
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Although they do not dye the river green in Austin, Texas, it does have a green hue to it year round. Thought this made for a good shot to celebrate the day and dream of warmer weather to come.
I wish I had a photo of this skyline from this point when I moved here in 1995. I know it would look a LOT different. None of the foreground highrises were there at that time. By the look of all the cranes (7 is what I counted), the same skyline will be changing even more of the next few years. At one time there was a strict ordinance against blocking the view line of the state capitol. That ordinance has all been thrown out with the construction of all the downtown highrises in the last 10-15 years.
