Happy 178th Birthday Texas!
The Pennybacker Bridge on 360 in Austin, Texas has been photographed by many. This was the other shot I got of it a few months ago that I liked and decided it was time to share. An arch for hump day!
I wish I had a photo of this skyline from this point when I moved here in 1995. I know it would look a LOT different. None of the foreground highrises were there at that time. By the look of all the cranes (7 is what I counted), the same skyline will be changing even more of the next few years. At one time there was a strict ordinance against blocking the view line of the state capitol. That ordinance has all been thrown out with the construction of all the downtown highrises in the last 10-15 years.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Although they do not dye the river green in Austin, Texas, it does have a green hue to it year round. Thought this made for a good shot to celebrate the day and dream of warmer weather to come.
I always liked climbing trees as a kid. In the summertime I could hide in the limbs of the tree under the canopy of the leaves, but once winter came around my hiding place was foiled until the Spring. I took advantage of one of those leafless trees a couple of weeks ago for a view of some of the downtown condos on the north side of Lady Bird Lake. Sure was a lot more interesting than the view of the backyard I had as a kid. :-)

Along came a spider on the redeveloped Mueller airport land. I went our on a photowalk of the Mueller area and we stumbled upon this sculpture around sunset. It reminds me of something out of War of the Worlds. This runner provided a nice perspective as to just how big the sculpture is. If you haven't checked out the redeveloped Mueller airport, I recommend it. Really amazing with how the old airport has been transformed over the last 15 years.
Super Moon rises over Mueller Lake in Austin, Texas last weekend.

After dinner the other night we decided to walk out on the new boardwalk on Town Lake since we were in the area. We were really impressed with what little of it that we saw, that we decided we'd have to go back soon to check more of it out. This is the view of downtown Austin at sunset from the boardwalk in front of Joe's Crab Shack. Go check it out if you haven't done so yet.
Wrapping up July with a shot of these kayakers taking in the last rays of sunlight paddling on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. I made this shot from the new boardwalk on the lake. Sure is a nice place to get great shots of the Austin skyline. Makes me want to get out there and paddle Lady Bird Lake this weekend. :-)
Those who know me know I love to ride bikes. So last weekend when we were on the Lady Bird Lake trail and I saw these waterbikes with the Austin skyline behind them, I just had to get a shot. Didn't get to ride them then, but we're returning tonight to actually take them out for a spin around the lake. Looking forward to trying them out.
I wonder if Stevie Ray would recognize Austin any longer? Most of these buildings did not exist when he was alive. In the words of another famous, and still alive musician, the times, they are a changin'.
